My PowerBook has refused to boot up since last night, I suspect it is a hard drive failure. Combine that with a lack of proper backup makes for an unhappy me. Lets hope the folks at the Apple Store Genius Bar can help me out or someone can at the very least extract my data from the hard drive if it is indeed effed.
The whooping the Pack delivered the Rams last night was a temporary respite of the gnawing aggravation that is this situation.
Really try to see if Knoppix has a version for Macs. It's what I use to get data off laptops everyday.

It was the aftermarket IBM hard drive that failed, all the Mac hardware is working fine. There is hope for getting my data back .

Sorry to hear about the hard drive bro. I might email mike to see what he uses to image PCs and stuff. One bad PC hard drives, i can occasionally image them then pull some of the data down after that.
At least we can see Brendan riding the bull this friday night!

I very sorry about the computer issue. Be thankful that someone did not walk off with it tho, as is the case with some of us in this mean, mean world :)
