So Sunday (July 24th) was the big day. I dropped off my car at the B&B Rachel and I were staying for the next two days since we were taking a limo from the Dallas Women's Forum to the B&B. Pete, Chris, and I took some time to relax in the pool and the hot tub before getting into the tuxes. We got ready and headed over the site. I greeted folks as they arrived and waited for the ceremony to start. Once it was go time the guys and I took our places.
Uncle Mikw greeted everyone with performace of The Rose in memory of Rachel's mother. The ceremony started and Rachel was an absolutely beautiful bride. Rev. Daniel Kantor gave a great ceremony that touched some humorous points about us. The parents had a birds eye view of the action and my mother had to keep the fathers from getting too emotional. After the ceremony things were a blur of picture taking and hugs. We got some food and headed upstairs to sit and listen to some toasts. Rachel's father, Christine, Peter, my mother, and I spoke (with Bill serving as the MC). Everyone had something very touching to say. It was great having such a collection of friends and family. We next cut the cake and took some more pictures outside. Before we know realized it, it was time to go. We ran out the site with everyone blowing bubbles. When we reached out limo, my uncles Mark and Mike jumped out at us! People wished up off, especially the kids.
We cruised around a really fancy area of Dallas and made our way to the B&B. After a yummy breakfast the next day we had some lunch with the Milwaukee folks before they got on their planes. Rachel and I returned to Uptown Dallas and did some exploring on the Trolley and grabbed some lunch at Hook, Line, and Sinker a nifty seafood restaurant that is really basic but has quality food. We walked back to the B&B and stopped to get a drink at Quarters a French Quarter themed bar.
Tuesday was time to head to Shreveport where we hung with family. Especially nice was the time spent in the nieghborhood pool with Rajul and her boys Mahil and Druuv. They are good swimmers! After some yummt indian food and a round of goodbyes we headed to Samstown Casino where dad had a room (comped) waiting for us. We watched a little Law and Order SVU and turned in early in preparation of our 5am wake up call.
The trip home was status quo and the cats were really happy to see us 16 hours later.
We got our pics back from the photographer, Jim Miller (our pics are on the home page!), and I'll be posting them this week.
Thanks to everyone who came and for the generous presents. Everyone means a whole lot to us.
