Global Union 2007

DSC_0651, originally uploaded by V'ron.

Rachel, Ava and I wound up going to the Global Union concert both days at Humboldt Park. Saturday was a bit chilly, but Sunday was great weather. Music both days was very good. Ava knee walked to everyone sitting near and gave many a enthusiastic 'hi'. We also had some serious soul food there. I had greens and hot water cornbread and Rachel and I split a rib tip sandwich. SHAZAM!!!

Thanks to V'ron for taking many a picture and posting on flickr.

UWM Engineering School Proposal at the Milwaukee County Research Park

I find the proposed UWM School of Engineering at the Milwaukee County Research Park interesting on a number of fronts. First, I got both of my degrees from from UWM. Second, I live not far from the proposed site. Lastly, I worked for FindAccountingSoftware.com which is located in the developed area of the research park.

Its pretty clear UWM has run out of real estate on th East Side. they have already expanded into a number of other facilities through acquisitions. The research park is booming right now with development. Just try to leave the grounds at 5pm!

Hopefully at least some form of this plan goes through. I really want to see UWM students get the facilities they deserve and do the work that gets the school on the map.

Angry Early iPhone Adoptors - You Knew The Deal

Dear Angry Early iPhone Adopters,

You knew the deal. You saw the iPhone announcement and you immediately said "I have to have that". You did not care what the price was, it could have been your left testicle/ovary, you would have paid. If you were willing to meet a $499/$599 price point, the purchase was not out of fiscal responsibility if you are pissed about $200 10 weeks later. The purchase was about bleeding edge kickass gadgetry.

Furthermore, if you follow Apple AT ALL you know you need to make that purchase an live with it because something way better and at times cheaper is coming in the foreseeable future, that is how it goes. I've known people that could have saved $1,000 if they had made a mac purchase 48 hours later. They lived with it and so should you. You didn't get bent over you were a victim of your own doing.
