Bucks Comeback Win vs. Nuggets

Bill and I enjoyed the NBF seats for the 2/23/08 home game against the Denver Nuggets. We arrived a bit late due to an understaffed Benihanas (we had sushi + SAKE). We did miss the Bucks falling to a 23 point deficit. They managed to cut it to 14 by the half. In the second half, true to a George Karl team, the Nuggets became uninterested and lazy defensively to the Bucks advantage. Was good to see the Bucks get a win. When we went to the Nuggets game last year Allen Iverson and Linas Kleiza buried them.

Good Movie, Bad Movie

Rachel and I watch two movies in the last two days. One, AMAZING the other laughably BAD.

First, There Will Be Blood. Wow, one of the best movies I have ever seen period. The performance by Daniel Day Lewis should get him another Oscar. Writing and directing by Paul Thomas Anderson was excellent. He staged some jaw dropping scenes. I personally like the film score, eerie and unsettling.

GOOD

Next, The Number 23. Despite the 1.5 star rating we gave this movie a try. It starts out fairly decent for a suspense/horror type movie. But OH MAN does it spiral into a joke of a movie. Seriously, Elvira Mistress of the Dark should have introduced this movie. I laughed out loud a number of times imagining people on a film set shooting this, watching dailies and saying 'this works'. If I were Jim Carrey I would have only watched this movie on my Gulfstream jet on my way to a ultra private resort. BUT, he had the balls to show up at the premiere anyway. Must have been a contractual thing. Watch the movie if you need a good laugh ala Attack of the Killer Tomatoes.

BAD

Brew City Tea

I made my first stop in to Brew City Tea this morning and was highly satisfied with the selection and service I received. The salesperson was polite and knowledgeable and guided me through the purchase based on my preferences. I bought an ounce apiece of Pi Lo Chun green tea and Lumbini Estate black tea. I plan to take notes and try a number of varieties to hone in on my favorites.

I was on a coffee kick for a year and a half coinciding with Ava's birth. In early December '07 I felt myself falling under the weather so I got on a morning smoothie and tea at work kick that made me feel good and in my mind helped me avoid a cold, so I stayed with it.  Waiken was generous enough to bring back some loose leaf black? tea from his last trip to Singapore and it was GREAT. Thanks man! Once I consumed that I turned first to Teavana in Mayfair Mal purely out of convenience, then to Brew City Tea, also out of convenience, but more importantly to support a local small business that is catering right to me baby.

I still enjoy a good cup of coffee now and again but loose leaf tea makes me feel much better.

Tough Guy Shots - WTF LOL

Reading the Onmilwaukee.com article Featured bartender: Steve Gilbertson of The Eastsider and Up and Under Pub I came across the first mention of 'tough guy shots' I can recall.

Oh, and there was this guy Josh who used to hang out at Jo-Cat's Pub. He called it "church" and would show up at noon every Sunday and wouldn't leave until 2 a.m. He used to do "tough guy" shots, which involved lining up salt on the bar like it was coke, a lemon and a shot of tequila. He'd take the shot, snort the salt, and squirt the lemon in his eye. This guy used to do this, multiple times, every Sunday. And he would try to get people to do this with him!

Now the tequila and that salt are fine, but squirting a lemon/lime in your eye WTF? I burst out laughing at that mental image. I consulted The Google to see if this 'Josh's' invention or something more widespread. What I found was a number of YouTube video's of idiots people doing Tough Guy shots. There seems to be some variation on the order in which the snorting, shooting and squirting are done but in the end eyes and sinuses are left burning. I'm 7-10 years beyond even considering some some dumb shit like this but it won't stop me from laughing at others who do.
