Ok, so while imdb-ing Morgan Freeman I saw that his production company might be making Rendevous With Rama. If you are not familiar, its a book by Aurthur C. Clarke. Its about a very large, perfectly cylindrical, dormant space ship that come near the Earth. A team of scientists is deployed to check it out...hilarity ensues. I think the movie is definitely a fit for today's kick butt CGI. I am sure the whole movie would be done blue/green screen, ala Sky Captain and Sin City, because of sort of environment described within the ship. I guess I am more skeptical about the commercial prospects of the movie though, its not a horror story like Aliens. Nor is it a warm fuzzy like ET. Its not particularly funny like Men in Black. I know Clarke's adaptations have done well in the past...2001 Space Odessy. But this isn't the same era in filmaking. Hopefully with a name like Morgan Freeman behind the pic it will get made.
I say hopefully because I think a book like Ender's Game would be a serious friggin hit and it has'nt gotten out of script stage yet.
